Propeller-powered duck delivery action!

In Ducky's Delivery Service you are a duck who uses a propeller backpack to fly around and deliver mail. Master the flight physics, grow your delivery business, fulfill special delivery requests from other ducks, and earn time attack ranks and high scores.

Master the controls of your propeller backpack and discover the fastest routes between destinations in your quest to become the best delivery business around.

Grow your delivery business from its humble beginnings and explore increasingly dangerous areas, while avoiding hazards such as windmills, seagulls, falling stalactites and wandering ghosts.

Help other ducks by fulfilling their special delivery requests. Deliver their one-off items to their destinations, while making sure they don't get damaged.

Earn time attack ranks by discovering the fastest routes for delivering flyers, and earn high scores by quickly delivering packages without damaging them. Throw packages into mailboxes from a distance for even higher scores!

If you would rather play at your own pace, Relaxed Mode removes all time limits. You can also use the comprehensive Assist Mode to adjust the game to your liking by tweaking health, score multipliers, game speed, or outright skipping troublesome stages.

Congratz for completing it

This game looks fantastic! Inspiring stuff

Oh my god this looks so cute! Great job! All in all, what would you say, how long did you spend on creating this project?

Thank you! I started making the game in June 2022 and released it in July 2023. So it took 13 months in total, including the Nintendo Switch release.

Jeez, that is a LOT of work. Congratz for completing it!! :) I'm asking because as a budding gamedev myself, I'm trying to gauge how long certain things take, since I tend to overscope a lot.

(+1)

Thanks! The way I try to scope my own games is by making the smallest possible version first, and then adding more features or content afterwards if I still have the energy to do it. I started Ducky's Delivery Service by making a smaller version with a few levels and no story first, and then I added those later. My last game Chessplosion didn't have an adventure mode or online multiplayer until I had finished making the rest of the game.

So if I get to the end of making the small version and it took way more time than I expected, I have the option of releasing a small game instead of being stuck with half of a huge game that I don't want to finish. I ended up finishing the larger versions of Chessplosion and Ducky's Delivery Service, but I'm glad I made them this way! Maybe I'll get better at estimating the scope of large games in the future, but this way works fine for now.

Hey thanks for getting back to me in such detail, that's very interesting! I usually tend to overscope my projects and then get stuck somewhere on the way but have recently adapted a similar style to what you describe. Barebones loop first, then everything else. Feels kinda... lackluster at the start, but at least its getting finished :D Taking part in a game jam definitely helped because you can NOT get away with procrastinating and overscoping there ^^

I wish you the best for your future projects and thanks for sharing some of your experience with me :)

cool game and very cute. will absolutely  buy it if i got money

Thanks!

This is cute and fun

Thank you!

This looks and sounds so good! Is there any possibility of getting a soundtrack along with the Switch version?

(+1)

Thank you so much! I'll paste the answer to your question here too in case anyone else is curious:

The soundtrack is included with the game here on itch.io if you pay $13.99 or more. And if you just want to buy the soundtrack by itself, it's available on Bandcamp and Steam.

😊👍

Thank you, your games and assets look cute too! Those 16x16 Game Boy icons are adorable!

Thank you so much!

GAME FRICKING ROCKS!!! I LOVE DODGING EVERYTHING TO GET THE PACKAGES DELIVERED SAFELY, I LOVE THROWING THE PACKAGES FOR THE BIG POINTS, I LOVE BRUISING A PACKAGE AND GOING "AAAAAAAAAAAAAA", and, most importantly, I love the ducks. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS GAME!!!

Thank you so much for playing! That is exactly what I love about the game too, so it's good to know I'm not the only person who feels this way

Ahhhh this is such a good game! The balance is absolutely perfect on all the movement, and I found it challenging enough to have to redo just a few levels but could really dial in on some others. Super fun

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!

Cool art style, the hat is a nice touch. Also will this be on steam?

Thank you! Yes, the game is also on Steam:

Nailing a long throw feels so good! Slightly disappointed that throwing a final hailmary package on low time doesn’t count if it lands after time out. Looking forward to release :)

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for trying the demo! I agree about throwing a final hail mary package, and I watched a streamer try to land some post-timeout packages today too. So I fixed it in the latest version (v814)!

Yay!! thank you!!
